About This Service

This community-based part time service is situated in Lettermore primary school in the heart of the Gaeltacht, west county Galway. The pre-school has its own entrance and has the use of the school facilities. The service operates a sessional service from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and a part time service until 2.30 pm, from Monday to Friday, 38 weeks of the year. An Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) and sessional care pre-school programme were offered through the medium of Irish. The pre-school caters for children aged from 2 to 6 years of age. The service has access to the enclosed school playgrounds and all weather sheltered area to the rear of the school. The service provides a curriculum based on play and the children’s emerging interests. A quiet rest area is provided to facilitate a child to rest or opt out of an activity if he or she chooses to. The outdoor play areas were secure to the rear, side and front of the premises.
